“Single Asian Male Seeking Himself”. Weaving together dance, performance art, theater, and spoken word, Nguyen navigates his personal history and its intersections with pop and subcultures, toxic masculinity, displacement, and migration to pick apart the politics of race and desire on a deeply personal level that reverberates with and beyond the Asian American experience. From anime to kpop to professional wrestling and pickup artists, Nguyen bridges together seemingly disparate elements and delivers a performance that is humorous, heartbreaking, and human.

Co-presented by the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center (APICC) at Bindlestiff Studio as part of the 24th Annual United States of Asian America Festival. in San Francisco. This work was made possible with funding from the San Francisco Arts Council and APICC.

"Every Asian incel should be forced to watch this until they become feminists." -
Kristina Wong, Performance Artist and Comedian

"It really hit home for me. I relate so much to the experiences in the show and I'm so happy to feel represented. This is important work for the young generation's own healing and coming out healthy from these "masculinity traps"." - Tsatsa, Expressive Arts Therapist

"Incredible show. I didn't realize that your generation still has to deal with the stuff we did."- Derek Chin, Instructor of Jeet Kune Do Community Class
